English: Each color covers all parts of France which transportation time from Paris through SNCF's network is between x hours and x+1 hours. For instance, the lightest grey color is for parts of France less than one hour from Paris through the SNCF's network ; the darkest one, for parts of France more than 6 hours from Paris. The cities shown by a dot on this map are those which best travel time from Paris has been precisely checked. Prefectures are shown with a black dot, other important cities with a blue one.
Français : Chaque couleur correspond à toutes les régions du territoire français dont le temps de parcours depuis Paris par le réseau SNCF est compris entre x heures et x+1 heures. Par exemple, le gris le plus clair correspond aux régions situées à moins d'une heure de Paris ; le gris le plus foncé, à celles situées à plus de 6 heures de Paris. Les villes représentées par un point sur cette carte sont celles dont le meilleur temps de parcours depuis Paris a été précisément vérifié. Les préfectures sont indiquées en noir, les autres villes importantes en bleu.

Methodology / Méthodologie edit

English: Based on approximately 160 requests to the SNCF's website ([1]) for travel from Paris to main French cities on Wednesday, March 5, 2008. Each time, the best travel time on that day, including travel times using SNCF's buses, has been shown on this map. The requests have been made in late January / early February 2008.

All prefectures have been shown on this map, except Ajaccio and Bastia (in Corsica, so they cannot be reached from Paris using SNCF's network), Privas (no open train station), Bobigny, Créteil and Nanterre (too close to Paris). This map also shows approximately 70 other important cities, chosen because of their size, or because they are the only important city in a large part of France.

Other travel times (those that are not for cities marked with a dot) have not been checked on SNCF's website and are very approximate.

Français : Données acquises par la vérification des temps de parcours entre Paris et principales villes de province. Environ 160 requêtes ont été envoyées au site de la SNCF ([2]) fin janvier/début février afin de connaitre les connexions disponibles pour le vendredi 5 mars 2008. Les meilleurs temps de parcours y compris les connexions par bus SNCF sont montrées sur la carte.

Toutes les chef-lieux des départements (préfectures) sont présents sur la carte sauf Ajaccio et Bastia (la Corse n'est pas accessible par train depuis Paris) ainsi que Privas (non desservie par train), Bobigny, Créteil et Nanterre (trop proches de Paris). De plus, environ 70 autres villes sont présentes soit à cause de leur taille soit de leur importance à l'échelle régionale.

Les autres temps de parcours (pour les villes qui sont absentes de la carte) n'étaient pas vérifies et sont très approximatifs.

Polski: Mapa jest oparta na danych uzyskanych ze strony SNCF ([3]) dotyczących czasu przejazdu pociągiem z Paryża do wybranych miast we Francji. Pod koniec stycznia/na początku lutego 2008 wysłano ok. 160 zapytań o połączenia kolejowe (z uwzględnieniem połączeń autobusowych uruchamianych przez SNCF) w środę 5 marca 2008.

Wszystkie stolice departamentów (prefektury) są zaznaczone na mapie, za wyjątkiem Ajaccio i Bastii (Korsyka nie posiada połączeń kolejowych z Paryżem) a także Privas (brak stacji kolejowej), Bobigny, Créteil and Nanterre (położone zbyt blisko Paryża). Około 70 innych miast jest zaznaczonych na mapie, zostały one wybrane ze względu na ich wielkość lub duże znaczenie w skali regionalnej.

Pozostałe czasy przejazdu (dla miast nie zaznaczonych na mapie) nie były sprawdzane i są bardzo przybliżone.
