Description
English: Historical plaque placed by the Pennsylvania Historical Commission (predecessor to PHMC) and the Delaware and Chester County Historical Societies on Sept 1, 1915 (text of plaque out of copyright). Marks site of Trimble's Ford - the 1st ford used by the British troops under Howe and Cornwallis during the Battle of Brandywine, on Sept. 11, 1777. They flanked Washington's troops in the battle by using the 2 fords. Part of the Trimbleville Historic District on the NRHP, in Chester County, PA.
