Summary edit

Description
English: Tring Cutting : View southeastwards Taken from the railway bridge on Marshcroft Lane on the outskirts of Tring. Tring Cutting is one of the deepest in Britain and when it was excavated in the 1830s it was considered one of the modern "Wonders of the World". It is about 2½ miles long with an average depth of about 40' (12m). This line was the first railway to be built into London and terminated, as it does now, at Euston Station. This line is now part of the West Coast Main Line, the view seen here is "up" the line, i.e. towards London; to see the view "down" the line (away from London) see 1274201.

For views of the bridge from which this was taken, see 1274208 & 1274211
