English: "Türk çinilerinde gerek renk, ve gerek desen itibarile vuku bulan büyük inkılap on altıncı asrın ikinci nısfında başlar ki, ikinci devre olarak kabul ettiğimiz bu zaman Türk çinisinin tam tekamül ve itilasıdır. Şimdiye kadar bu sanat inkılabı, Selim 1’in Tibrizden getirdiği ustalara atfolunuyordu. […] Fakat bu sanatkarlar geldikten otuz sene sonra yapılan binalarda kullanılan çinilerde büyük bir değişiklik görülemez. […] Şu halde tekamülün sebebini, bu çini ustalarına atfetmek katiyen doğru olamaz. Bunu; doğrudan doğruya Türk mimarisinin ve teyzin sanatının yükselmesinde aramalıdır.
