Summary edit

Description
English: Bridge to the Intake Tower on the upper reservoir of Turlough Hill, an Irish Electricity Supply Board (ESB) pumped storage scheme. This is located in Co. Wicklow, Ireland. When this was built in 1968, it was the largest civil engineering operation ever undertaken in the country. The upper reservoir which is man-made has the capacity to hold 500 million gallons of water. From the intake tower, water flows down a pressure tunnel, then through the station and the generation turbines to produce electricity, similarly to a conventional hydropower station.
