English: Two Cottier's Houses With the increase in machinery on the farms came the demise in the traditional farming labour force. These two buildings were once the homes of families who worked for the farmer, the cotter was only available to the married man as all single workers lived in the Bothy on the farm or maybe, in the case of some hill farms, with the cottier. The men were employed for either 6 months or a year and would be paid for 6 months work in advance.
