Description
English: Ty Franan This former small holding was the birth place of W.D.Owen (1874-1925), solicitor and novelist. His novel "Madam Wen" published first in installments on the eve of WWI in Y Genedl Gymreig and finally in book form in 1925 remains one of the most popular in the cannon of Welsh adventure literature. Owen's sister, Ellen Owen was a servant to Florence Nightingale (1820-1910)and letters from Florence Nightingale to Ellen Owen, written between 1886 and 1892, have survived. Descendants of the Owen family still reside at Ty Franan.
