The Christian quarter of Tyre, Lebanon

Summary edit

Description
English: Panorama of the Northwestern part of the Christian quarter (Harat El Masihiye) in Tyre/Sour, Southern Lebanon, overlooking the touristic Al 5Arab Street: in the centre are the ruins of "Beit Albert Wakim", next to the Maronite Cathedral "Our Lady of the Seas" (right), seen from the roof of "Florina's Guest House". Older than the adjacent church, "Beit Albert Wakim" was heavily damaged in the 1978 South Lebanon conflict through an aerial bombardment by the Israel Air Force, which destroyed the neighbouring "Beit Shaddad" (background left).
