DescriptionU.S. Air Force Evaluating Cargo Solutions for Stakeholders in Afghanistan DVIDS230352.jpg |
English: A team of 12 members comprising a U.S. Air Force Airfield Assessment Team from the 621st Contingency Response Wing at McGuire Air Force Base, New Jersey, including Tech. Sgt. Jerry McPherson on one of the team?s all terrain vehicles, arrived at Forward Operating Base Farah, Afghanistan, as part of a deployment to visit all established airfields with a major military presence, Dec. 2. "We're just one C-130 capable," said Capt. Luke Stumme, the civil engineer of the group, "so we can load all our equipment, all our people on one C-130 and we are completely self sustainable." The team's main mission is to find a way to increase mobility velocity and throughput in Afghanistan; or find ways to move large amounts of people and equipment quickly into theater. The results of their study will be briefed to the International Security Assistance Force commander. The ultimate goal of the team is to help find solutions for getting more forces into the war zone and sustaining those forces once they are in place.
