Description Lot 9431-4: Objective: Japanese Base. Its propeller whirling in the morning fog, a U.S. Navy SBD “Dauntless” takes off from its carrier base, bound for Japanese-held Wake Island, where a combined sea-air attack destroyed gasoline stores, storehouses, hangars and other installations. Though not identified, photograph was probably taken onboard USS Enterprise (CV 6) in February 1942. Office of War Information photograph. (10/2/2015).
