Description Lot 11559-30: Atlantic Convoys. U.S. Navy blimp takes part in the rescue of torpedoed merchantman survivors. An officer reaches up to catch food, coffee and water lowered by a line from the Navy non-rigid airship. The lifeboat was first sighted by U.S. Army plane, which notified the Navy’s blimp patrol. The blimp in turn stood by until a Coast Guard Cutter could show up and take the survivors ashore. Office of War Information photograph. (2016/01/29).
