Description
English: Petty Officer 2nd Class Othea C. Williams, hospital corpsman with Personnel Security Detachment, Regimental Combat Team 1, and native to Ruffin, SC, keeps a vigilant watch during a stop at a 2nd Battalion, 24th Marine Regiment outpost near Saqulawiyah, Iraq. Navy corpsmen, also known as �docs� among Marines, are the combat medics for the Marine Corps. They have the skills and medical provisions to stabilize Marines wounded in combat right on the spot, giving them a fighting chance to live before medical evacuations arrive.
