Image title | Sgt. Jordan Lewis, Marine Aviation Logistics Squadron 12 non-destructive inspection technician, picks up a pile of collected debris during the clean up effort at Tsuzu Beach, July 14. Approximately 20 volunteers from Marine Corps Air Station Iwakuni helped the local community clean up a nearby beach to the Air Station on Thursday. The Air Station was one of 25 organizations to participate in the annual clean up efforts for a 500-meter beach area located just 8 Kilometers south of the installation. Overall, approximately 250 volunteers participated by either picking up trash or raking the coast-line for this annual effort in preparation for the Tsuzu 's beach opening, Wednesday. "They really appreciate the Air Station volunteers for this," said Mariko Okabe, the Air Station beach volunteer coordinator. |
