Description
English: Yoshihiko Fukuda, Iwakuni City mayor, addresses the crowd gathered during a runway a commissioning ceremony which officially opened the new runway here to flight operations May 29. Fukuda said he considered the construction of the new runway the best way to resolve many of the noise issues related to the base, while maintaining the nation’s defenses.
