English: Senior Airman Ben Jones, 74th Aircraft Maintenance Unit technician, covers an intake on the engine of an A-10C Thunderbolt at the Marine Corps Air Station in Yuma, Ariz., Aug. 17, 2010. The Flying Tigers, based at Moody Air Force Base in Georgia, are here flying in support of exercise Enhanced Mojave Viper in Twentynine Palms, Calif., as part of predeployment training for the unit. The iconic shark face painted on the nose of the squadron’s aircraft serves as a reminder of the squadron’s history as part of the 1st American Volunteer Group flying for China during World War II. The markings originated on the P-40 Warhawk, which the squadron flew at the time. |
