Description
English: Former New Orleans Saints running back Duece McAllister shakes hands with Marine Corps Band New Orleans Musician, Cpl. Edward Miller during The Krewe of National Football League kickoff parade. The parade celebrated the New Orleans Saints Super Bowl XLIV championship. It was the first time in the 91 year history of the NFL that a parade was hosted in New Orleans to kickoff the first regular season game. The parade traveled through the heart of the historic French Quarter starting on Esplanade Avenue and North Peters, then headed towards downtown on Decatur, passing through Canal Street to Tchoupitoulas Avenue, and finally ending on Julia Street. The New Orleans Saints squared off in a rematch of last year’s National Football Conference championship game against the Minnesota Vikings. The Saints prevailed in the regular season opener, winning 14-9. McAllister is the Saints all-time rushing leader and also holds the Saints record for rushing touchdowns.
