English: Excerpt from the war diary of the U.S. Navy destroyer escort USS Cecil J. Doyle (DE-368) of 1 to 5 August 1945, describing the rescue of survivors of the heavy cruiser USS Indianapolis (CA-35). Indianapolis had been torpedoed and sunk on 30 July 1945 at 12°2′N, 134°48′E.
