Description
English: The U.S. Navy destroyer USS Reid (DD-369) at Ciudad Trujillo, Dominican Republic, in the summer of 1938.
Santo Domingo, the capital of the Dominican Republic, was called "Ciudad Trujillo" from 1936 to 1961, after the Dominican Republic's dictator, Rafael Trujillo, named the capital after himself. Following his assassination, the city resumed its original designation.
