Description
English: Insignia of the U.S. Navy guided missle cruiser USS Texas (CGN-39), in 1983.
Official description: "The official crest of the USS TEXAS was designed by martha Bell, a free lance graphic designer from Austin. The colors (Red, White and Blue) repesent the colors of the state flag of Texas. The anchor and the line symbolize the Navy while the lone star symbolized the state flag of Texas. The atoms and the orbits within the lone star symbolize the nuclear power characteristics of the ship while the three stars at the bottom respresnt the previous three ships named for the state of Texas, one which served in the Texas Navy. Finally, "PROUD HERITAGE; PROUD PURPOSE", symbolizes the proud tradition pf previous ships named Texas, and the ship's proud purpose to defend our Country."
