Summary edit

Description The 1825 die of the Great Seal of the United States, engraved by Seraphim Masi and used only for pendant seals used on treaties, as the regular Great Seal die was deemed too small for that purpose. The Masi design was entirely different. It remained in use until 1871 when the use of pendant seals was discontinued.
Date (die); photo from the 1970s.
