Description
English: At sea aboard USS Kitty Hawk (CV 63) May 7, 2002 -- A helicopter assigned to the “Chargers” of Helicopter Anti-Submarine Squadron (HS-14) conducts .50 caliber machine gun target practice. Ships at sea conduct live fire training using brightly colored inflatable targets referred to as “Killer Tomatoes”. Kitty Hawk is providing a forward presence in the Asian Pacific region, conducting training and exercises with regional allies. Kitty Hawk is the Navy’s only permanently forward deployed aircraft carrier, and is homeported in Yokosuka, Japan. U.S. Navy photo by Photographer’s Mate 3rd Class John E. Woods. (RELEASED)
