Description
English: Aboard USS Winston S. Churchill (DDG 81) Aug. 5, 2002 -- The bow of the Winston S. Churchill looms over the dry dock at Bath Iron Works in Bath, Maine. The ship's crew and local shipyard workers are nearing the end of the ship’s Post Shakedown Availability (PSA), a $25 million upgrade to the ship’s equipment, warfare systems, and living quarters. After being floated from the dry dock, the destroyer will receive the remainder of the upgrades pier side before departing for her homeport of Norfolk, Va., and becoming part of the USS Theodore Roosevelt battlegroup.
