English: Oak Harbor, Wash. (Apr. 21, 2004) - Aircrew Survival Equipmentman 2nd Class Timothy Mann, of Sacramento, Calif., exits the back of a C-130 Hercules aircraft backwards at an altitude of 8,000 feet. Petty Officer Mann is practicing alternate jumping techniques to better prepare him on how to recover into a controlled falling motion. Mann is assigned to Explosive Ordnance Disposal Mobile Unit Eleven (EODMU-11). In the event of a real combat scenario, EODMU-11 team members would be required to locate a possible explosive device and disarm it. A freefall drop over a simulated battle zone gives EODMU-11 an understanding of the possible disasters that can occur in the air. U.S. Navy photo by Photographer's Mate Airman Chris Otsen.
