English: Arabian Gulf (July 19, 2004) - General John Abizaid, Commander, U.S. Central Command, arrives aboard USS John F. Kennedy (CV 67) as he passes through the side-boys on the ship’s flight deck. Gen. Abizaid met with Sailors and staff during his visit to USS John F. Kennedy in the Arabian Gulf. Kennedy is currently underway in the Middle East region, working with coalition partners to provide support to ground troops taking part in Operation Iraqi Freedom. In addition, Kennedy is currently supporting Summer Pulse 2004. Summer Pulse 2004 is the simultaneous deployment of seven carrier strike groups (CSGs), demonstrating the ability of the Navy to provide credible combat capability across the globe, in five theaters with other U.S., allied, and coalition military forces. Summer Pulse is the Navy’s first deployment under its new Fleet Response Plan (FRP).
