Image title | SSgt Jesus Rivera, of 9th ESB lowcrawls during the combat conditioning portion of training for the Marine Corps Martial Arts Program tan belt at Camp Warrior, Korea. The Marines and Korean Military are participating in KITP. Korean Incremental Training Program 05-1 (KITP) is a three-prong exercise, with the main focus on engineer training, medical training and the interoperability with the host nation and different services. In the past KITP has been focused on infantry training, but due to the current tempo of the Marine Corps, the 9th Engineer Support Battalion (ESB), 3rd Force Service Support Group (FSSG) and a platoon of Seabees from Naval Mobile Construction Battalion (133) are conducting engineering exercises in support of KITP 05-1. This exercise provides a rare opportunity for FSSG elements to conduct large-scale training they can't do on Okinawa. The Shock Trauma Platoon and Forward Resuscitative Surgical System from the 3rd Medical Battalion, 3rd FSSG are being observed by Republic of Korea medical personnel. The US Army 267th Quartermaster Company is conducting bulk fuel exercises with 9th ESB in support of KITP 05-1, further improving the interoperability of U.S. and ROK military forces.
