Greg Gibson regarding the operational employment of the AN/AQS-20A Mine Hunting Sonar System. The AQS-20 is intended to detect and identify deeper moored mines and visible bottom mines. It consists of a state-of-the-art, side-looking, multibeam sonar system delivering real-time high-resolution imagery of the ocean bottom. The Secretary visited the Naval Surface Warfare Center at Naval Support Activity Panama City, Fla., for overviews on current and future mine warfare systems and tactics.
