Description
English: Naval Station Mayport, Fla. (Dec. 3, 2004) - Commanding officer of guided missile frigate USS McInerney (FFG 8), Cmdr. Ace Van Wagoner and former commanding officer, Cmdr. Rick Williams, display the United States Interdiction Coordinator Golden Eagle Award, which was awarded to ship's crew for their accomplishment during last year's counter-drug deployment. This is the first presentation of an award created to recognize the superior performance of front line drug interdictors. McInerney's crew and embarked personnel interdicted 11 metric tons of cocaine and detained 24 traffickers during maritime interdiction operations conducted in the U.S. Naval Forces Southern Command Area of Responsibility.
