Summary edit

Description
English: Singapore (Jan. 29, 2005) - Members of the Naval Expeditionary Logistics Support Force (NAVELSF), Base Operating Support (BOS) contractors from the Naval Regional Contracting Center (NRCC) Singapore and Military Sealift Command mariners load supplies and medical materials onto the Military Sealift Command hospital ship USNS Mercy (T-AH 19). Mercy has been forward deployed to support Operation Unified Assistance, the humanitarian operation effort in the wake of the tsunami that struck Southeast Asia. Mercy contains twelve fully equipped operating rooms, a 1,000-bed hospital facility, digital radiological services, a diagnostic and clinical laboratory, a pharmacy, an optometry lab, a cat scan and two oxygen-producing plants. The hospital ship is a converted San Clemente-class super tanker. Mercy is a very visible and humanitarian symbol of not only America’s commitment to tsunami victims but also its enduring commitment to the people of the region.
