Description
English: East China Sea (Mar. 9, 2005) - Aviation Structural Mechanic Airman Edward Constantino of Pittsburgh, Pa., cleans the approach lights on the nose landing gear of an F/A-18F Super Hornet, assigned to the “Diamondbacks” of Strike Fighter Squadron One Zero Two (VFA-102), prior to flight operations aboard USS Kitty Hawk (CV-63). Plane Captains are responsible for the integrity of the aircraft that they are assigned and perform vital inspections key to the complete success of every mission. Currently under way in the 7th Fleet area of responsibility, Kitty Hawk demonstrates power projection and sea control as the U.S. Navy's only permanently forward-deployed aircraft carrier, operating from Yokosuka, Japan.
