Description
English: Persian Gulf (July 4, 2005) – Iraqi military members practice maneuvering from a point of entry to the bridge aboard the amphibious dock landing ship USS Ashland (LSD 48) while embarked for a series of drills and training exercises. The Iraqi Navy and Marines are training with the Maritime Riverine Assistant Support Troop, comprised of Royal Navy and Royal Marines. The Iraqi military is afforded an opportunity to train aboard U.S. Navy ships, because their country is not equipped with the proper platforms for certain training purposes. Maritime Riverine Assistant Support Troop and the Ashland are assisting in Maritime Security Operations (MSO) by training the Iraqi military to stand security watches and various shipboard operations.
