Iwo Jima departed Norfolk, Va., to join the Joint Task Force Katrina hurricane relief efforts to bring much needed supplies and help to Gulf Coast region. The Navy's involvement in the humanitarian assistance operations is being led by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), in conjunction with the Department of Defense.
