English: New Orleans (Sept. 15, 2005) – U.S. Navy Chaplain, Cmdr. Milton Gianulis helps clean up the Greek Orthodox Church of New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina. Gianulis is assigned to the amphibious assault ship USS Iwo Jima (LHD 7). Iwo Jima is currently pier side on the Mississippi River, assisting in Joint Task Force Katrina hurricane relief efforts. The Navy’s involvement in the humanitarian assistance operations are an effort led by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) in conjunction with the Department of Defense.
