English: New York City, Times Square (May 26, 2006) – Captain Joseph Sensi, center, commanding officer of the amphibious assault ship USS Kearsarge (LHD 3), along with Eastern Regional Vice President of NASDAQ, Mr. Jeff Singer, center right, and invited crew members cheer in front of the NASDAQ jumbotron after the closing bell. NASDAQ invited Captain Sensi and his crew to be the special guests in support of New York Fleet Week 2006. Fleet Week has been sponsored by New York City since 1984 in celebration of the United States sea service. The annual event also provides an opportunity for citizens of New York City and the surrounding Tri-State area to meet Sailors, Marines, as well as witness first hand the latest capabilities of today’s Navy and Marine Corps. Fleet week includes dozens of military demonstrations and displays throughout the week, as well as public visitation of many of the participating ships.
