English: Tawi Tawi, Philippines (June 12, 2006) - Navy Musician 3rd class Jamie Kaufman, of Dayton, Ohio, is a trumpet player for the U.S. Navy Show Band embarked with the Medical Treatment Facility aboard the U.S. Military Sealift Command (MSC) Hospital Ship USNS Mercy (T-AH 19), performs a solo for on lookers at the Datu Halun Sakilan Memorial Hospital, while the ship visits the city on a scheduled humanitarian mission. The Mercy has already visited Zamboanga and Jolo, Philippines, where its crew had treated several thousand patients. The ship will bring patients aboard where its doctors will perform major surgeries to remove goiters and cataracts as well as repair cleft lips. Ashore, teams of doctors, nurses and corpsmen spend their time providing aid to patients not requiring treatment aboard the ship. Mercy's medical staff will provide a multitude of medical, dental and veterinary care for pets of the people who live in this region, together with their Filipino counterparts, both at local city medical centers and on the ship itself.
