English: Cary, N.C. (Oct. 19, 2006) - Sailors assigned to the Virginia-class fast-attack submarine North Carolina (SSN 777) participate in a Habitat for Humanity project as a part of Navy Week. Throughout the week, Sailors also passed out North Carolina ball caps to children at Duke Children's Hospital, served lunch at an area soup kitchen, and read stories to children at a local library. Navy Week is sponsored by the Navy Office of Community Outreach (NAVCO) and is coordinated with local recruiting districts. The events are held in cities across the country in an effort to increase Navy awareness in cities without a large Navy presence. U.S. Navy photo (RELEASED) |
