English: BOSTON (July 4, 2007) – Amphibious assault ship USS Wasp (LHD 1) bluejacket of the year, Aviation Structural Mechanic Airman Oscar Li, and guided-missile destroyer USS Bulkeley (DDG 84) sailor of the year, Electronics Technician 1st Class David G. Jackel II, recite the Pledge of Allegiance from the Old State House balcony to crowd of thousands below. The Declaration of Independence was read to Americans for the very first time from the same balcony 231 years ago. Wasp and Bulkeley are participating in the Boston Navy Week, one of 26 Navy Weeks planned across the United States in 2007. Navy Weeks are designed to show Americans the investment they have made in their Navy and increase awareness in cities that do not have a significant Navy presence.
