Image title | Boatswain Mate Seamen Justin Schendel, assigned to guided missile destroyer USS Russell (DDG 59), "tags" the refueling probe of Canadian oiler HMCS Protectuer (AOR 509) during a replenishment at sea. The practice of affixing the crest of the receiving ship on the delivery ship's probe dates back many years. Russell has received fuel from replenishment ships a total of four times since leaving Pearl Harbor on 23 September. USS Russell is currently underway off the coast of southern California particpating in Composite Training Unit Exercise, a critical step in increasing the interoperational ability between all members of the USS Abraham Lincoln Strike Group. |
