Vavasseur, executive officer of the guided-missile destroyer USS Hopper (DDG 70); Steve Blinderman, president of Blinderman Construction Co.; Rear Adm. Douglass T. Biesel, commander, Naval Region Midwest; Capt. Jake Washington, commanding officer, Naval Facilities Engineering Command Midwest; Capt. John W. Peterson, commanding officer, recruit Training Command, Rear Adm. Clifford S. Sharpe, commander, Naval Service Training Command; Cmdr. Daniel E. Voth, former commanding officer of the guided-missile destroyer USS Arleigh Burke (DDG 51); and Lt. Scott Mowery, RTC Division Officer cut a ribbon commemorating the opening of two new barracks at Recruit Training Command. USS Arleigh Burke and USS Hopper are the 11th and 12th barracks of the RTC 12-year $750 million Recapitalization Project to significantly enhance both recruit training and the living environment at the Navy's only boot camp.
