Description

Four U.S. Navy aircraft from Carrier Air Wing 9 (CVW-9) during a mission over Vietnam in May 1972. CVW-9 was assigned to the aircraft carrier USS Constellation (CVA-64) for a deployment to Vietnam from 1 October 1971 to 1 July 1972. Visible are (r-l):
a North American RA-5C Vigilante (BuNo 156610) from Heavy Reconnaissance Attack Squadron 11 (RVAH-11) "Red Checkertails";
a McDonnell F-4J-34-MC Phantom II (BuNo 155769) from Fighter Squadron 96 (VF-96) "Fighting Falcons";

and two Ling-Temco-Vought A-7E Corsair II (BuNo 156833, 158016) from Attack Squadron 147 (VA-147) "Argonauts".
