DescriptionUS Northern Command's senior enlisted leader visits Joint Task Force Civil Support 130410-N-VJ282-474.jpg |
English: U.S. Army Command Sgt. Maj. Richard Capps, Joint Task Force Civil Support, senior enlisted leader, listens as U.S. Army Command Sgt. Maj. Robert Winzenried, senior enlisted leader, North American Aerospace Defense Command and U.S. Northern Command, discusses JTF-CS’ participation during last year’s Hurricane Sandy response in New Jersey and New York during a visit here April 10, 2013. Winzenried toured Mullan Hall – JTF-CS’ headquarters building here – and spoke with staff members about their individual roles in the command’s mission as well as to thank them for their efforts during the response in New York and New Jersey following Hurricane Sandy last year. He emphasized the importance of JTF-CS’ ability to respond to any contingency, man made or natural disaster, but noted that the command’s ability to respond to a “no notice” complex catastrophe – such as a domestic biological pandemic or nuclear attack – is critical to U.S. Northern Command’s civil support mission. “You are our 9-1-1 force,” said Winzenried. JTF-CS, which plans for and responds to catastrophic chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear catastrophes in the homeland in support of federal, state and local authorities, will validate its response processes next month during Sudden Response, a command post exercise at Fort A.P. Hill, Va. (Official DOD photo by U.S. Navy Petty Officer 1st Class Brian Dietrick) |
