Description

L'île d'Antigua a été découverte par C. Colomb en 1493, mais les traces d'une présence humaine y remontent à 1775 avant J.C.

Les anglais ont colonisé l'île en 1632, Ils y ont cultivé de manière intensive la canne à sucre et détruit la forêt tropicale.

Antigua et Barbuda est un pays indépendant depuis 1981. Il est sur la liste des paradis fiscaux.
