Description
English: Unfinished funerary statue of a victorious ephebe. Pentelic marble. Found in the ancient cemetery of the Kerameikos, Athens. The stele has the form of a 'naiskos'. A farewell to the deceased is inscribed on the epistyle. The youth crowns himself with his right hand and holds a palm branch, symbol of his victory, in his left. A.D. 150. Accession number: 1662. National Archaeological Museum of Athens. Athens, Greece.
