| Description |
English: University College Hospital This is the entrance to the famous cruciform building which 'was' UCH for a period of some 100 years. There were five main floors, with a ward on each wing of each floor, giving a total of 18 wards, numbered from 1.1 to 4.4, then 5.1 and 5.2, with the first digit indicating the floor number. The two unused numbers on Floor 5 were because two of the wings on that floor were occupied by the two operating theatres. There are no patients now in the Cruciform Building, which is now used by UCL: the patients are in completely new (and state-of-the-art) facilities in a building just along Gower Street. |
