Title
English: University of Washington wrestling coach James Arbuthnot with two wrestlers , Seattle, ca. 1925
Description
English:

James 'Jimmy' Arbuthnot served as the director of athletics from 1906-1910 at Oregon State University (OSU)" His bulldog was reportedly the unofficial mascot of several teams, especially the wrestling team, which he coached from 1911-17 and again in 1920, winning five conference titles in that time. As the University of Washington wrestling program had been subject to many coaches and constant injuries, the program greatly improved under Arbuthnot's guidance as coach from 1921-1929. In this 1920s photograph, Coach Arbuthnot is on the mat with two wrestlers in what appears to be a pose for the photographer.
