English: Up the coast towards Jarlshof from the Sumburgh Head trig. point The trig. point on Sumburgh Head is, if anything, even more exposed to the gales than the lighthouse. The force ten of the previous night was dying off, but the waves were still crashing on exposed shores and swell from Sumburgh Roost was wrapping round onto the east coast as well, so kayaking was off the agenda for a few more hours. Sumburgh is an excellent viewpoint for the power of the sea in these conditions, but getting around can involve crawling or ducking behind walls to make any progress at all. Keep hats firmly tied on ! |
