English: A quick sorties from North East Essex into Greater London to check out some interesting stuff in Upminster today. The Tithe Basrn was built around 1420 and is the largest medieval wooden barn with a thatched roof in the UK. Today it houses an eclectic collection of agricultural & domestic bygones.
Just round the corner from the Tithe Barn is this comparative stripling - built in 1803. Upminster Windmill. And a final surprise from our sortie to Upminster - "Oronsay" an Art Deco / Modern Movement house built in 1934 and designed by David Lumley for the chief Engineer of the P&O Liner "Oronsay" |
