| Description |
English: Upton Hellions: Hellions Mills. Now a house conversion, forming two or more properties. In 1827 part of the mill was operating as a woollen manufactory and part as a corn mill, each worked by a separate waterwheel; these were once located on the wall away from the camera. By 1845 this was a corn and grist mill working three pairs of stones; the grist was for cattle feed. The property was rebuilt circa 1860 and in 1871 a secondhand steam engine was installed by Exeter engineers. Milling ceased in circa 1938 by which time only pig food was being ground |
