Nederlands: Utrecht en Rome. Spotprent op de gevreesde opheffing van de Utrechtse Hogeschool, 1853. Een groep ambtenaren van het ministerie van binnenlandse zaken probeert met touwen het gebouw van de Utrechtse Hogeschool omver te trekken. Op het dak van het gebouw twee hoogleraren (waaronder rector G.J. Mulder) die de aanvallen proberen af te slaan. Links vluchtende studenten en hoogleraren. Rechts trekt een lange stoet van bisschoppen op richting Utrecht. Centraal op de voorgrond een zwarte tor, een verwijzing naar Thorbecke, minister van binnenlandse zaken. Onder de plaat drie tweeregelige citaten uit Vondel. RP-P-OB-89.155 |
