Description
English: Old wooden seaside buildings and store houses in the harbour of Vardø, a small town located in the far east of Finnmark, Norway. On roofs and ledges are seagulls on nests, and several buildings are stained with bird droppings. The Brotkorb boathouses from the 19th century, the oldest preserved boathouses in the region, house the small Pomor Museum. The picture was taken on a summer day with fog drifting in from the ocean.
Norsk bokmål: Sjøhus og annet ved Kaigata i Vardø sentrum, en by helt øst i Finnmark. På hustak, vegghyller og karmer ligger og står måker (krykkjer) på reir. Flere bygninger er tilgriset med fugleskit. De okergule Brotkorb-sjåene fra 1800-tallet, landsdelens eldste bevarte sjøboder, huser blant annet Pomormuseet (Поморский музей, i Storsjåen). Bildet er tatt en sommerdag med tåke drivende inn fra havet.
