Description
To distance himself from relatives in The Hague who disapproved of his relationship with the prostitute Sien Hoornik, van Gogh moved in November 1883 to the Dutch province of Drenthe. He stayed there for two months and concentrated on depictions of the flat, heather-covered landscape, as seen in this subtle watercolor.[1]
